What is ExoLinks?

ExoLinks is a free, fast and effective way to boost your website's link popularity by exchanging links with quality websites that are related to your website topic. It is a fully automated system, which means that every link you exchange is automatically placed upon your website.

How Does It Work?

ExoLinks works in a similar way to Text-Link-Ads but without the payment process and with the potential to exchange a great deal of links.

Once you register you will need to create a new page with some pre-written code (that we provide). Then you can start looking for sites to exchange links with! The sites are categorized into relevant topics which makes finding quality relevant sites a breeze.

If you find a site you like you can then ask for a link by clicking on 1 link! The other member will then review your link and if they approve it the link will automatically be placed on both your pages.

What Are The Requirements?

We currently have no requirements in terms of PR or Alexa Rank - however we only approve sites that have either unique content or provide a unique service. This is to ensure the overall quality of the site to be kept high.

Please also note that as we are currently undergoing beta testing we have limited each free account to a maximum of 5 sites.

Is This Really Going To Help?

It's a well known fact that getting links from quality, related websites is the best way to increase your websites profile on the internet. We manually review each and every site that members submit to ensure a high standard is met throughout. In addition to this you even have the ability to review all links that are requested so that you only accept the links you want.

Automated? That Sounds Like Trouble!

We can understand how an automated system promising to speed up link development can sound a little risky. However we have taken the following steps to try and ensure you get quality, relevant links from ExoLinks:

  • We review every website submitted.
  • You can set-up a link request rule that means that you can stop unrelated sites from requesting a link. This will mean that you won't have to waste your time reviewing link requests from these sites. Also these request rules can be set-up for each individual site, making it very flexible.
  • Each link request is reviewed by you before it even becomes active. You do have the option of auto-accepting all link requests but this isn't recommended for obvious reasons.

What's So Good About This System?

Except for the points mentioned above about being able to get quality links quickly and efficiently, ExoLinks ensures fairness. Unlike manual link exchanges where the other party can do various things to nullify your link (cloaking, nofollow, total removal of link), our system ensures that all links are kept active so if we detect a website without the code for longer than 24 hours, the website is automatically deemed inactive and their link is removed from the system. In short, if they remove your link we will automatically remove their link for you.

How Do I Make The Script Work on HTML Pages?

If your webpages are in the .HTML or .HTM format you will need to tell your server to process PHP on these pages. This can be done using an .htaccess file.

In case you don't know how to do this, all you need to do is to create an file named ".htaccess" (without any other extension) and place the following code within it. Once you've done that, upload this file via FTP into the same directory where your link page exists.

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

I Exchanged Links But It's Not Showing Up?

The ExoLinks script checks for any updates in links every hour or so to reduce the load on our servers. This means that after you exchange links with other sites you may have to wait an hour or so before you see the links appear on the relevant pages.

Also the script uses pseudo-cron as opposed to cron jobs. This therefore means that on each page load of your links page, the script checks for the last time the links were checked. If your site doesn't receive much traffic, then you may find that your links don't update very often. You may also find that we disable your site listing as we have determined it to be "inactive". To prevent this from happening your should set cron jobs to run your links page every hour.

I Uploaded the ExoLinks Script But My Site's Been Deemed Inactive?

As mentioned in the previous point, this is due to the fact that our script works via pseudo-cron. If you have a website that receives little traffic then we would advise you to setup a cronjob so that we don't deem your website inactive. Make cronjob run your links page with our script every hour to avoid any problems.

You can find information on cron jobs on the internet, for example this page.
